Best early upgrade

Start with Jagged Steel for bleed pressure against susceptible enemies. Add a different damage option for resistant targets. Sanguine and Sanguine Twin are comfortable choices for learning attack strings; Sanguine Reach adds room to manage groups.

Best offensive choices

White Serpent & Crimson Viper combines quick attacks with ranged pressure. Baishan Stormswords rewards managing Wind and Thunder together. Fiend Saws excels during a guard break. Choose weapons whose strongest attacks fit the openings you can reliably create.

Best defensive choices

Outlaw Warblade can restore health through successful attacks, but heavy attacks spend HP and healing depends on enemy type. Soft Snake Sword rewards precise defense. Parting Hooks turns counters into offensive opportunities. Practice the timing before relying on them against a new boss.

Plan your upgrades

Read the next perk in the forge preview before investing. A special technique can matter more than attack value. Experiment with a second slot rather than forcing one weapon into every encounter. Use the region navigator to plan your next detour.
